In the recharge process, the extinguisher is emptied of all its contents and essential mechanical parts are dismantled, inspected and cleaned. Any defective or worn parts are replaced, the cylinder is filled with the proper amount of extinguishing agent, and the fire extinguisher is reassembled with verification of service collar in place and pressurized. A leak test is performed to assure proper containment of pressure and contents.

Following the recharge process, the extinguisher is inspected according to the procedures outlined under Annual Certification
